Jewel is the answer to #?! That question was vague and subjective. :-)

I'm curious, what are the ways in which Jewel and Paula Abdul have a lot in common?

Oops, I forgot to include the number "6" in the first sentence of my earlier comments.

malc,

thought you'd like that one...they are both judges on reality shows and the only female judges...American Idol and Nashville Star...and since beck is utterly brilliant in her recaps, I did that one for her....

Editor: I put Mariah Carey because both she and Paula have South American ancestry (Venezuelan and Brazilian, respectively).

After I posted my responses, I was still thinking of what the answer might be for #6. One of the singers I considered was Brandy. It turns out that could have been an acceptable answer. She's very attractive (at least I think she is) and she was the only female judge on season 1 of the reality show "America's Got Talent".

In case you are into pop culture trivia in general, my weekly game is posted. It does have a few music-related questions that may interest you.

Hey Editor,
I was thrown off by number 3. While Lionel Richie penned "Lady" for Kenny Rogers, he did not have a song with the same title. The Commodores had a song entitled "Lady (You Bring Me Up). Is that the song you are referring to?

I got sidetracked by the Jewel question that I forgot to comment on question #3 (Pjazzy covered most of what I was going to say). I would like to add that The Whispers should be an acceptable answer (they hit #3 R&B and #28 pop with a song called "Lady" in 1980). D'Angelo also had a big hit with a song called "Lady" in 1996.

You know what Malcolm, how could I forget the Whispers? I just saw them sing that song back in January. The DeAngelo song came to mind first for some reason.

Sharon Osborne fits the bill for #6 too! Ozzy thinks she is attractive!

Yeah, I agree...The Commodores song "Lady" is the one I was thinking of, hence my answer. (And a fantastic song it is. The video was even my forgotten classic one week not too long ago.) Lionel Richie never sang his "Lady" that Kenny Rogers recorded.

And I actually was trying to think of other singers who have been on reality shows, but since I stopped watching Nashville Star this year I forgot about Jewel. Still, that's about where the similarity ends between her and Paula Abdul. I would never think of those two as having anything in common musically.

the Editor is full of faux pas today.

let's start with Jewel. i was not nearly as specific as i should have been, probably because i composed that silly question while watching Nashville Star (okay, that's the LAST time i'll ever do that). everyone here is correct:
Sharon Osbourne looks great as does Brandy and we all know Mariah Carey is legendary... beck was right in that Jewel and Abdul ONLY have that in common and nothing else.

as to "Lady," i'll pass this one off as a brain cramp (hey, i'm 53 for crying out loud and i was playing trivial pursuit when the question popped into my head). I should have researched it. I know Richie wrote the song but for some stupid reason i forgot that only Rogers had a hit with it.

it's so OBVIOUS when i take a shortcut because all you participants are exemplary at playing. now you'll have to excuse me because i have to check my future quizzes for additional screw ups....

thanks for keeping it real.

Hey Editor, I hear you on the age thing, I am right up there with you. Also I can actually hear Lionel Richie singing "Lady" in my head if I listen closely. It is surprising that he gave the song away, now that I think about. Hey you are entitled to a slip up every now and then. It has to be time consuming researching all of this information triweekly. My hat is off to you kid!

I second what Pjazzy said. Doing one quiz a week can be challenging, so I can only imagine what it must be like to do 3. A thick slice of slack has been cut just for you.
