hello,
i thought i'd try something new today as a change up in the trivia. identifying "songs with a theme" and today's theme is location. there will be other future themes.
one of my favorite type questions is when artists have hits with the same title, but not necessarily the same song.
when i originally began this blog, it was simply an entertaining way (hopefully, for you too) to review some otherwise worthless, but yet important knowledge that I had that has become a part of my life growing up.
but it has kind of morphed into a plethora of pleasant memories as i am remembering music i hadn't even thought of in years when i concentrate and put myself to the task.
the difference is that it is FUN for me and if it ever got to be drudgery or too much like work, i'd stop. but the history of my life is marked by music and for three times a week the questions remind me of what i was doing when and music is the backdrop or soundtrack so to speak of my life, even what i consider lousy music like malc's "American Pie" or Manilow and Diamond.
additionally, i love reading your comments and seeing your perspectives and the best part of that is that you HAVE perspectives. beck is hilarious, barb is competitive, and pjazz is consistent as is malc. it's FUN to hear what you like and dislike and it's even FUN when you correct my sometimes fading or incomplete memory.
for your information, i do use song lists and lyric lists in compiling my questions as well as some Internet research when it comes to things like band members, but usually only as evidence that my recall is correct (which sometimes it isn't). but i've been steadily listening to music pretty much since the day the music died (i put that there just for you malc) and even though music is not what is was since about 1986, i still love it.
I hope ya'll have a GREAT weekend and that this is still fun for everyone.

You killed me today Editor, but that's alright because I like a challenge. You either know them or you don't and today I didn't. There is an old saying "sometimes you eat the bear and sometimes the bear eats you". The bear chewed my ass up big time today.
Keep the quizzes coming, they do help to enhance my week. I know I speak for Malcolm when I say that we very much look forward to Monday, Wednesday, and Friday mornings because we know we are going to get a nice surprise. Thanks for your hard work in developing these quizzes and have a great weekend:) P.S. "American Pie" is a wonderful song, you and Malcolm need to quit (LOL)!

By the way Editor, playing your trivia games has been a blast. I am glad that Barbara discovered it and in turn let her readers know about it.
I also enjoy coming up with questions for my weekly trivia games almost as much as I like playing yours and others. When coming up with questions, there are things that I haven't thought of in years. I think the people who play feel the same way.
Most of us also have alot of "useless" info floating around in our memory banks. Since many of us don't have a chance to apply this info in our everyday lives, I think we get a kick out of saying, "Hey, I know that Elvis Presley played a character named Tulsa McLean".
Damnit! As soon as I saw Pjazzy's answer for #3, it all came back to me... Me and You and an F'in Dog Named Boo!
Pjazzy: Don't let me have to break out "Funkytown" on you.
1) "Love Child?"
2) Randy Meisner
3) ?
4) Stevie Wonder and Janet Jackson
5) Billy Joel

10) George Michael (I knew reading all those Star Hits mags would come in handy one day.)
pjazz,
trust me, you answered more right than most of the people who lived through those drug-crazed days. identifying lyrics that are almost 40 years old and on songs that you NEVER hear anymore is an amazing job of recall.
malc,
i love reading barb's blogs. she always has a wealth of music information there and her writing style is warm and friendly. by the way, pretty solid performance as well.
beck,
i seem to be good at finding questions about songs that people loathe. i hated that song as well, but it was rather obscure in the scheme of things, which is why your answer IS amazing (besides, I know that you were barely a kid when it came out)...
see ya'll on monday.
